Pace, surface (road, gravel, MTB or virtual), distance, day and time of day: morning, daytime or evening.
Can I search by typing?
Yes. Type “easy gravel in Göteborg this weekend”, for example, and Rulla sets the filters and moves the map.
Are there rides on Zwift?
Yes. Virtual rides are a discipline of their own, so pick Virtual in the filters.
Can I see the hills before I go?
Yes. Tilt the map with the button or two fingers and the terrain shows in 3D. On a ride you see how steep the route gets and can fly along it.
Who can see a ride?
Public rides are open to all. Club rides are for the club’s members, friends rides for your friends and private rides only for those invited.
On the ride
How do I sign up for a ride?
Tap Going, Maybe or Can’t on the ride. If it has pace groups, you pick one at the same time. Some rides have no sign-up, and then you just turn up at the meeting point.
What is a pace group?
A group within the ride with its own pace and leader. You can switch group any time before the ride, as long as the group isn’t full.
Can I talk to the others before the ride?
Yes, every ride has a chat. The organiser can pin what matters most to the top.
How do I share a ride?
Every ride has a lasting link and a share card in story format, 9:16, to post wherever you like.
Which signals do riders use in a bunch?
Holes and hazards, stop, slowing, turning, move over, and single file or two abreast, by hand and by voice. We’ve drawn them all.
Tap Create in the app and follow the steps. Drafts save themselves and can be picked up on another device.
Can I make a ride from a message?
Yes. Paste in the text you’ve already written about the ride, and Rulla fills in the time, place, distance and pace. You check and publish.
Can the ride have pace groups?
Yes. Each group gets its pace, its leader and a cap on how many fit.
Can a ride have more than one route?
Yes, up to three, a short and a long one for example. Each pace group can have its own route.
Can I add a coffee stop?
Yes, add stops along the route and everyone sees where you’ll stop.
Can a ride repeat every week?
Yes. Set it up once as a weekly ride.
Does everyone have to sign up?
No. You can switch replies off, and the ride shows the information only.
Who sees the ride I create?
You choose: everyone, the club’s members, a team in the club, your friends or only those you invite.
Routes, GPX and bike computers
What is a GPX file?
A common file for routes: a line of points that describes the way. Almost every bike computer and map app can read it.
GPX, TCX or FIT: which should I pick?
GPX is just the line and works almost everywhere, so pick it if you’re unsure. TCX and FIT come from Garmin; FIT is a compact format newer Garmin units prefer. If a FIT file gives you trouble, try GPX.
How do I open a GPX file?
In your bike computer’s app: Garmin Connect, Wahoo or Hammerhead. On your phone, open the file and choose the app, and the route comes in. The steps for each make are below.
Can Rulla send the route straight to my bike computer?
No. You download the file from the ride and load it yourself, as the steps below show.
Where do routes in Rulla come from?
The organiser brings them in from Strava, Komoot or RideWithGPS, uploads a GPX file or takes one from a route library.
How to get the GPX file onto Garmin, Wahoo or Hammerhead
Download the route from the ride in Rulla. Then do this, depending on your bike computer.

Clubs, rides and races come in from SCF, happyride.se and Strava, among others, and link back to where they came from. Claim your club and you’re in charge.
How do I claim my club?
Find your club and tap Claim. We check the details and approve it by hand.
Spaces inside the club, with their own leaders, members, rides, pages, routes and board. A women’s team, a junior team or one per town, for example. A club can have up to 20 teams.
What are info pages?
The club’s own pages for what always applies: how you ride, kit, where you meet. With a photo at the top. A page can be open to all or for members only, and a club can have up to 20.
What is the board?
The club’s announcements, not a feed. What matters goes there and members can comment. Each team has its own.
What is the route library?
The club’s saved routes. Use one on a new ride, or download it as a GPX.
Can we list groups for a race?
Yes. List the club’s groups for a race, by pace or target time for example, up to 30. They show on the website and organisers can put them on rides.
Which roles are there?
Owner, admin and member. Owners and admins run the club, and each team has its own leaders.
Can we sort our members?
Yes, with tags: town, pace group, role or whatever helps you. New tags are for admins only until you show them to members.
Can we have members-only rides?
Yes. A club ride is seen by the club’s members only, and a team ride by the team only.
Can several of us run the rides?
Yes. Add co-organisers who can post and edit rides.
Can we show our rides on our own website?
Yes, your club’s public rides can be embedded on your website.
Can we connect our Strava club?
Yes, the club page can link to your Strava club.
