Riding gravel in a group

Gravel cycling is riding on gravel roads, forest roads and sometimes trails, away from the traffic. In a group you find the roads worth riding.

    What is a gravel bike?

    A gravel bike looks like a road bike but has wider tyres, so it rolls on both tarmac and gravel. The rides often mix the two.

    Where can you ride gravel?

    Almost anywhere in Sweden: gravel and forest roads run round most towns. The rides here show where the clubs ride, in the cities and out in the country.

    Pace and distance

    Every ride shows its pace and distance. On easy and social rides the group waits, so no one gets left behind. Pick a ride in the list above that you can manage.

    What do I need?

    A gravel or cyclocross bike, a helmet, water, food and a repair kit. It can be a long way between places to stop, so bring more than you think.

Right now most gravel rides are in Göteborg, Stockholm, Rottne and Uddevalla.

Which clubs ride gravel?

Veloura, Föreningen Cykelintresset, Brittatorps Träningsklubb, Lovö Express and Gravel Odyssey have gravel rides up on Rulla.

Does it cost anything?

No, most group rides are free and open to everyone. Sometimes the club asks for membership or a sign-up; if so it says on the ride.
