What to wear for Vätternrundan

The night can be close to freezing, the afternoon warm. Wear layers you can take off and put in your pockets: a gilet, arm and leg warmers. A thin rain jacket weighs almost nothing. Only ride in clothes you’ve already ridden far in.

Which bike for Vätternrundan?

A road bike is usual. You can ride a gravel bike, hybrid or MTB, but it takes longer. What matters most is that the bike is serviced and you’ve ridden far on it. Rules on bikes and aero bars are on vatternrundan.se.

Food over 315 km

Eat little and often: something every 45 minutes from the start, even if you’re not hungry. The depots have food and drink; carry your own for the stretches between. Try your food on the long rides, not on the day.
