What Sub 8 takes

40.6 km/h for 315 km is not the same as 40.6 km/h on an evening ride. The speed holds only in a bunch where you take turns at the front; alone into the wind round the south of the lake, the average drops fast. Plan the stops: every extra quarter hour at the depots costs about 1.4 km/h of rolling speed.

Who rides Sub 8?

Sub 8 is for seasoned bunch riders. The groups ride close, change all the time and barely stop. Many of them start in the special sub 9 groups on the Saturday.

How to train for Sub 8

Plan on 10–14 hours of training a week by May, with a longest ride of 250 km. Ride the long ones at the group’s pace, not faster. The training plan goes through the weeks from March.
